Mrs. Geraldeen "Jerry" Schnuelle

Geraldeen Lucille “Jerry” (Buckley) Schnuelle, 91, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, at her Swearingen, Alabama, home of 46 years. Born August 19, 1933, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Lawrence Richard and Mildred Eunice (McNutt) Buckley, Jerry’s life was defined by steadfast faith, hard work, and abundant love. She grew up on her parents’ farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Guthrie before meeting Gerald Duane Schnuelle at their community church. They were married on December 19, 1954, and together welcomed ten children between 1956 and 1970. Jerry’s hands were seldom still. She sewed clothing for her family, kept an immaculate vegetable garden, and created dozens of heirloom blankets and scarves with her knitting-and-crochet club. From 1991 to 2008 she managed the family’s chicken farm while tending cattle, goats, llamas, and donkeys. She loved to travel—embarking on a month-long road trip through the American West and Canada, cruising to Cozumel and Alaska, and touring the Holy Land in Israel. A faithful member of Grant First Baptist Church since 1980, Jerry volunteered in the church food pantry from 2012 to 2021, helping as many as 200 families each week. Her generosity and gentle humor touched everyone she met, and her legacy of service will endure for generations. Jerry is survived by her ten children and their spouses: Dianna Carmon (Don), Debbie Caskie (Don), Albert Schnuelle, Allen Schnuelle, Karan Bailey (Mark), Arnold Schnuelle (Angela), Archie Schnuelle (Julie), David Schnuelle (Connie), Karol Tennant, and Andy Schnuelle; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 55 years, and her siblings Richard Buckley, Eugene Buckley, and Marylynn Erb. A funeral service will be held at Grant Memorial Chapel on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 2:00pm with Pastor Steve Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow at Gunter Mountain Memory Garden. The family will receive friends at the Grant Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grant First Baptist Church Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.
